The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine intends to propose to the Parliament amendments to the Electoral Code to combat "double" candidates. Minister of Justice Denys Malyuska reported this on his Facebook page.
Such measures are necessary so that voters are not misled.
According to him, the elections revealed a lot of people who wanted to change their names and surnames to those used by the leaders of the election race. There are no legal grounds for refusing applicants.
He noted that, despite the fact that the changes will be reflected in the official pre-election resume of the candidates, such manipulations will still remain effective.
"Therefore, we will propose to the parliament to amend the Electoral Code to reflect the recent change of the candidate's last name, first name, and patronymic directly in the ballot," Malyuska wrote.
