The Odessa Film Festival, which became the most unusual in its history, has come to an end

They will choose the best film from the National Competition Program

On October 3, 2020, the solemn closing ceremony of the XI Odessa International Film Festival took place, which was held online for the first time in history due to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the results of the audience voting, the film "Dinner in America" ​​received the Grand Prix in the international competition program of the OMCF, and the "Audience Prize" in the National competition program went to the film "Victor_Robot".

The closing ceremony was traditionally held by TV presenter, journalist, actress Yanina Sokolova and TV presenter Oleg Panyuta.

We were the first to announce the winners of the European documentary film competition. The best film was "War Holidays" (directed by Moritz Schulz). The film "Land of Guevara" (directed by Kutaiba Bargamdzhi) and the film "Before the Orchestra" (directed by Anna-Karin Grenros) received a special diploma of the jury of the European documentary film competition.

During the closing ceremony, the audience of the Odessa International Film Festival was in for a musical surprise from the group "Dao Park". Adepts of futuristic experiments surprised with the sounds of jazz, hip-hop, funk and soul in their performance.

FIPRESA diplomas were also awarded: the best Ukrainian full-length film was "Bes" (directed by Egor Troyanovsky), and the best Ukrainian short film was "Chachyo" (directed by Vitaliy Gavura).

The jury of the National Competition chose the best Ukrainian short film, which became "Farewell, Golovin" (dir. Mathew Grimar). The award for the best acting performance in the National Competition was given to Maria Khomutova for her role in the film "Two" (directed by Vladyslav Vetrov). Adrian Pirva and Elena Maksem's film "Not Everything Will Be OK" received two awards at once: "Best Director's Work" and "Best Feature Film".

The main arbiters of the Odessa International Film Festival - the audience - chose "Victor_Robot" (directed by Anatoly Lavreshiny), which received the Audience Award, as the best film of the National Competition Program.

The ensemble of actresses from the film "Maternity" (directed by Maura Delpero): Lydia Lieberman, Deniz Carrizo, Agustyna Malale won the nomination "Best Acting Work" of the International Competition. The best director was Fabrice du Vels, who directed the film "Adoration". And the jury named the tape "Atlantida" by Valentin Vasyanovych as the best film.

Special mention of the jury of the International Competition was given to the films "Servants" (dir. Ivan Ostrohovsky) and "You will die at twenty" (dir. Amjazh Abu-Alal) for the soundtrack.

The film "Dinner in America" ​​(directed by Adam Remeyer) won the main prize of the XI OMCF - the Grand Prix of the International Competition.

The honorary "Golden Duke" was awarded to Roman Balayan, one of the most famous Ukrainian directors, for his contribution to cinematography.

«The XI Odessa International Film Festival took place even in such a difficult time. We were not afraid to take a risk and spend our time in a hybrid format — online and offline. In the shortest possible time, we created a unique platform, which has already been visited by 20 unique users, and by the end of the viewing period, within one week, we expect 000. We received more than 30 online views of all OMCF events, reached an audience of 000 and 150 filmmakers virtually took part in the film festival this year. We held the largest film performance on the Potemkin Stairs, where we showed the classic of German expressionism, "Golem, How He Came to the World", which turned 000 years old this year. In the future, our goal is synergy online and offline and attracting an even larger international audience. We will 350% meet next year at the XII OMCF, because our entire team is working to bring the best films from around the world to the OMCF.", — noted the president of the OMCF, the chairman of the supervisory board of the Ukrainian Film Academy, Viktoria Tygypko.

The closing film of the XI OMCF was Agneska Holland's new work "The Charlatan", which had its world premiere at the LXX Berlin Film Festival as part of the Berlinale Special program.
