The popular WhatsApp messenger has lost more than 30 million users since the beginning of January.

Thus, as a result of the actions of the owners of WhatsApp, users began to switch to such messengers as Signal and Telegram. According to a committee of the British Parliament, in three weeks of January, the number of Signal users increased by 7,5 million people, about 25 million users joined Telegram, which is much higher than the usual dynamics of these services.
According to the data of the analytical firm App Annie, WhatsApp moved from the eighth place in the ranking of the most downloaded applications in Britain already in mid-January. An example is the phenomenal growth of Signal — on January 6, the application was not even in the first thousand of the rating, and by January 9 it became the most downloaded application in the country.
As a reminder, WhatsApp released an updated user agreement on January 8. In the new version, the application announced that it will start sharing information with the Facebook social network that owns the messenger.
It is about geolocation, information about the installation and removal of programs belonging to Facebook. The messenger explained the step by the need to analyze the habits and tastes of users in order to more actively select advertising and content suitable for them. However, this led to a negative reaction of users from different countries of the world, many of them decided to install other applications for communication.
After a wave of criticism from users and the transition to other programs, WhatsApp announced that it had postponed the introduction of the new agreement. May 15 was named as the new date.
