On the night of October 16, 2023, the Russian invaders attacked Ukraine from several directions, using ballistic weapons, guided air missiles and attack drones.
In total, the use of one "Iskander M" ballistic missile, five Kh-59 guided air missiles and 12 "Shahed-136/131" type UAVs was recorded.
The northern and eastern regions of Ukraine were attacked with aerial missiles, the enemy directed the Shaheds in different directions, in particular to the west.
As a result of combat operations, two Kh-59 and 11 "Shahed-136/131" guided air missiles were destroyed by the forces and means of the Air Force.
On the air of the national telethon, the spokeswoman of the Southern Operational Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Nataliya Humenyuk said, that during an air attack with the use of strike drones and missiles, they hit the central and southeastern regions of Ukraine. Weather conditions complicated the work of air defense forces and means.
Humenyuk noted that the air targets again had a complex trajectory. The enemy launched "Shakhedi" from different directions. Thus, the Russian military calculated routes so that the "Shakhed" would bypass the air defense systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In addition, the soldiers of the Armed Forces had to shoot down enemy "Shakhed" in difficult weather conditions, as there were storms in the south of the country, as well as strong gusty winds.
During the alarm, the sounds of explosions were reported in Dnipro, Khmelnytskyi, as well as in Kirovohrad and Poltava regions.
Consequences:
— a missile attack on the outskirts of the Dnipro.
— Poltava region was attacked by missiles and UAVs. No civilian or critical infrastructure was hit, but several buildings were damaged by missile debris. 3 people were injured, including a child.
— in Khmelnytskyi OVA reported that the region was attacked by "shahedis" and air defense was actively working there. There were no damages or injuries.
— the work of the Air Defense Forces against the "Shakheds" was reported in Kropyvnytskyi, Myrhorod and Starokostyantynov.
