"Rakuten" company is closing its "Viber" office in Minsk and will reduce the amount of investments in Belarus due to the situation in the country. This was reported by the general director of Rakuten Viber Jamel Ahaua in an interview Forbes.
According to him, this decision was influenced by the seizure of Yandex and Uber offices, as well as the brutal suppression of protests against the current president, Alexander Lukashenko.
In addition, the situation was complicated by the arrest of two Viber employees and the father of another employee. The lawyers provided to them cannot yet understand the essence of the accused, however, one of the arrested was detained at the polling station after he asked several questions to the leadership. Now one of the detainees has been released, and the second is still under arrest, although he is in the hospital with serious injuries.
