Today the whole country celebrates the Day of defenders and defenders of Ukraine. On this occasion, in the Central Park of Culture and Recreation named after T.G. Shevchenko, a solemn ceremony of laying flowers at the monument to Kobzar was held in honor of the soldiers who gave their lives for the independence and integrity of Ukraine.
The ceremony was attended by the chairman of the OGA, Sergey Hrynevetskyi, the first deputy chairman of the Odesa Regional Council, Oleg Radkovskiy, the Odesa City Mayor, Gennady Trukhanov, representatives of various branches of the military, participants in hostilities, and ordinary Odessans.
Also today, a prayer service will be held for the defenders of Ukraine, who laid down their lives for the independence and integrity of our country.
In addition, in honor of the holiday, servicemen will receive UAH 2 each (except conscripts and cadets), and Ukrainians will receive four days off.
We note that October 14 is a professional holiday of military personnel, which appeared in 2014 after the cancellation of the celebration on February 23.
The date of October 14 was not chosen by chance: on this day, the Day of the Ukrainian Cossacks, the Foundation Day of the UPA and the Feast of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin are celebrated.
