Ukraine can receive 32 F-16 and 24 Mirage aircraft from Greece — mass media

F 16

Greece can transfer to Ukraine 32 F-16C/-D Block 30 fighters, which have undergone modernization and still have about 60% of their operational resource. In addition, the Greek air fleet has 24 Mirage 2000-5 Mk.2, which, with the consent of France, can also be transferred to Kyiv. The local publication reports News Break.

According to the publication, the Greek government plans to sell 108 fighters to be decommissioned (32 units of F-16C/-D Block 30, 24 units of Mirage 2000-5 Mk. 2 and 33 units of F-4E PI2000).

As the journalists write, the committee approved the sale of fighter jets and related and peripheral equipment (spare parts, simulators, devices and materials), the value of which was estimated at 117 million euros, as early as last year.

However, the sale never took place, and the condition of the fighters in open storage is constantly deteriorating. At the same time, it is emphasized that the cost of 108 fighters can be approximately from 2 to 2,5 billion euros.

A completely different matter is 32 F-16C/-D Block 30, the transfer of which to Ukraine is practically unquestionable. We will remind that during the period of service, fighters of this type underwent two modernizations of the design and currently spent on average about 60% of the maximum service life

In addition, the publication says that 24 Mirage 2000-5 Mk.2s remain in Greece, of which 14 are new builds, and the rest are upgrades of older Mirage 2000EGM/-BGMs.

They can probably be sold to Ukraine or India, but this requires permission from France.
