Kaufman, an Odesa businessman, was extended a preventive measure in the corruption case

Kaufman

The higher anti-corruption court extended the preventive measure for Odessa businessman Boris Kaufman, who is a suspect in the corruption case, for one month. About this informed Kaufman's lawyer Ihor Fomin.

"Today, a meeting was held at the High Anti-Corruption Court. Two months have passed since the time when VAKS judge Yaroslav Shkodin chose a preventive measure for Boris Kaufman (detention with an alternative to bail, which was made). The prosecutor asked the court to extend the preventive measure for two months. Due to the fact that the period of the investigation was extended by one month, the investigating judge extended the preventive measure for the same period. Boris Kaufman remains free, but with the same restrictions as before — he cannot leave Kyiv and Odesa without notifying the detective or the prosecutor." Kaufman's lawyer said.

Recall that that influential businessman Boris Kaufman was detained on December 5, 2022. The court set him bail of 129 million hryvnias, which was posted on December 8. Together with Kaufman, his business partner Oleksandr Granovskyi was detained, and the VAKS arrested him with a bail of 124 million hryvnias.

Kaufman is considered close to Odesa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov. Law enforcement officers accuse Boris Kaufman and Oleksandr Granovsky of creating the OZU, which "entangled" all branches of the Odesa city government.

NABU and SAP claim that the suspects engaged in regular bribery of Odesa City Council officials in order to solve their business issues.
