For the first time in history, the summit between the EU and a candidate country for accession is taking place in war. Experts see an important symbolism in the fact that the entire leadership of the European Union came to Kyiv.
Today, the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, arrived in Kyiv to participate in the Ukraine-EU summit.
"Again in Kyiv - for the EU-Ukraine summit together with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and the EU's chief diplomat Josep Borrell. Our determination will not weaken. We will also support you at every step on the way to the EU," he wrote to the Ukrainians.
We will remind you that the Ukraine-EU summit will be held in Kyiv today. Yesterday, Ursula von der Leyen, Josep Borrell and a number of other European politicians arrived in the capital of Ukraine.
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba reported that the central issue of the Ukraine-EU summit in Kyiv will be the assessment of the progress that Ukraine has already achieved and the further opening of accession negotiations, and many other topics related to Russia's war against Ukraine will also be touched upon.
