According to the official representative of the EC, Eric Mamer, it is about freezing €7,5 billion under three main programs from the EU Balanced Development Fund.
Such a decision is connected with Hungary's position regarding the war in Ukraine, as well as with repeated suspicions of corruption by the Hungarian authorities.
Orbán previously said that sanctions against Russia should be lifted, suggesting that the war could last until 2030. He added that Russia occupies about a third of Ukrainian territory.
