In Odesa, the work on the preparation of the nomination dossier for the inclusion of the historical center of the city in the Main List of UNESCO World Heritage has been completed.
The final online meeting was held in the city hall with the participation of the director of the UNESCO World Heritage Center Mr. Lazar Elundu Assomo, the head of the National Commission of Ukraine for UNESCO Emine Japarova, the Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Kateryna Chuevoi and other specialists who made efforts to get this work done.
This is a historical event to which Odesa has been going for many years. Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, this issue has become even more urgent.
"We understood that nothing is sacred for the occupiers. History, cultural values - for Russians this is an empty sound. However, we are confidently on our way to victory - thanks to our President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, thanks to the courage of our Armed Forces, and the unity of the Ukrainian people. For our part, we are protecting our front, including the city's heritage, which is a world heritage," said Odesa Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov.
