The mayor of Odesa answered a high-profile question about the future of the monument to the Russian empress Catherine II.
"When there is a war, when Ukrainians are killed, when civilians, children are killed and Russian soldiers do it, we must reconsider our attitude.
Russia showed its attitude towards our state, Ukrainians in general.
We have to rethink our monuments as well. I am against the vandalism method of demolishing monuments. I believe that, despite the politicians who want to get hype, we should come to this in a civilized manner and with an understanding of what we are doing," he said.
