In Odessa, patients with Covid-19 were evacuated due to lack of oxygen (video)

43 patients were urgently evacuated.

Last night, doctors urgently evacuated "severe" patients with Covid-19 from the department of the Regional Center for Socially Significant Diseases on Nikolay Mykhnovsky Street to the second hospital of the same KU — on Yadov.

43 patients were urgently evacuated there. All of them were in serious condition, 13 of them were connected to ventilators. The reason for the emergency evacuation is the lack of medical oxygen.

According to Svetlana Esypenko, director of the Odesa Regional Center for Socially Significant Diseases, the oxygen interruptions began six weeks ago. Because of this, doctors had to switch the system to oxygen cylinders.

"We informed the regional health department already in the morning that we have oxygen left until 4 o'clock in the afternoon and we started preparatory work, because the suppliers have already definitively informed us that they will not bring us oxygen and we have started transporting patients" — Svetlana Esypenko reported.

According to her, doctors transported patients from seven in the evening to four in the morning. During today's briefing, Esypenko burst into tears while thanking the Center's employees for their prompt work.

"All patients are alive and well today. And the most important thing, that we must ensure the life of patients, was fulfilled. We always kept 50 spare beds at Yadov just in case. I want to point out that we have a few people in the Center who are vaccinated," said the director of the Odesa Regional Center for Socially Significant Diseases.

Natalya Odariy-Zakharyeva, director of the regional health department, also asked to comment on the situation, but she spontaneously left the briefing.

"In the Odesa region, such a situation is observed in almost every hospital that has oxygen stations. We all know that two plants that produced oxygen have been suspended in Ukraine. But this situation ... is fully controlled, an analysis is being carried out...", the regional health director said and left the briefing.

It should be noted that to ensure uninterrupted operation of the oxygen station, the employees of DTEK "Odesskie Elektrosety" delivered a powerful autonomous electric generator to Yadov.
