A pregnant woman died in Poland due to abortion restrictions. It happened in the city of Pshchyna. About this reported on Facebook, the lawyer of the family of the deceased.
Lawyer Iolanta Budzovska is convinced that the doctors were simply waiting for the fetus inside the woman to die by itself, so as not to violate the law prohibiting abortions.
"30-year-old Isabella died on the 22nd week of pregnancy. The woman went to the hospital due to the disappearance of amniotic fluid. The doctors confirmed this, but they did not perform forced abortions even despite the previously diagnosed congenital malformations of the fetus," the publication says.
The lawyer told when the fetus died, and the woman began to go into septic shock, due to which she died in less than 24 hours. While still in the hospital, the deceased wrote a message to her family and friends that the doctors had taken a waiting position, saying that they needed to "wait and see."
"Doctors refrain from abortion until the death of the fetus, which is connected with the current regulations limiting the possibility of legal abortion," the lawyer clarifies.
According to her, the doctors acted in accordance with the decision of the Constitutional Court of Poland, which in October 2020 prohibited the termination of pregnancy due to fetal malformations. Abortion is allowed only if the woman became pregnant as a result of rape or incest, or if there is a threat to the life or health of the mother.
Note that this incident took place on September 22, but the story gained publicity only now. This case this Monday, November 1, has already sparked protests in Warsaw, Krakow and other Polish cities. People lit candles in memory of the mother and child. They demand that the law on abortion be weakened. The dead woman is survived by her husband and daughter.
