Paper prescriptions for drugs are becoming a thing of the past — the Ministry of Health is preparing for a series of newly introduced ones. One of the biggest changes in 2022 will be the sale of antibiotics using electronic prescriptions. This was reported by Deputy Minister of Health Alexander Komarida.
He said that by the end of next year, it is planned to transfer all prescription drugs to sale using electronic prescriptions. This will allow to establish control over their distribution. Such electronic prescriptions have already been tested in the "Affordable Medicines" program — they were introduced there on April 1, 2019.
The reform will start working on April 1. Such a measure was taken, including, to combat resistance to antibiotics.
Antibiotic resistance is the resistance of bacteria to antibiotics. It occurs when bacteria change under the influence of drugs. As a result, infectious diseases cannot be treated because antibiotics stop working.
Very often, the patient self-prescribes antibiotics or prematurely stops the course of antibiotics after the condition improves. Then antibiotic resistance occurs. In fact, it is very dangerous to interrupt the course of antibiotics, because if the treatment is not completed, a certain amount of bacteria can survive.
In order to get a medicine with an online prescription, you need to contact your family doctor, who will write a prescription in the electronic health care system. After this, the patient will be given a 16-digit code, which will be printed or sent to a mobile phone. Further, this code must be shown or dictated at the pharmacy, and the pharmacist can use the code to check the medicine prescribed for the patient in the health care system.
