The chief sanitary doctor of the country, Igor Kuzyn, said that every fifth Ukrainian suffers from Omicron. According to him, Ukraine still has a high incidence of the Delta strain, but Omicron is gradually displacing it.
"In Ukraine, a mixed scenario: since 2021, the "tail" of the Delta strain has remained, plus Omicron is starting to appear, more and more every day. According to the virological monitoring data, 20% on average is Omicron, the rest is still Delta," said the chief sanitary doctor of Ukraine.
At the same time, he clarified that there are regions where "Omicrona" is fixed more. For example, in Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv and Chernivtsi regions.
The Ministry of Health also reported that an average of nine people die from Omicron for every thousand cases of disease, while an average of 13 people die from Delta.
The Ministry of Health believes that "Omicron" will soon replace "Delta". At the same time, peak incidence rates will occur in February - up to 60 cases per day.
