"Ukrzaliznytsia" and Deutsche Bahn Engineering & Consulting concluded an agreement on consulting in the field of passenger transportation - in case of successful cooperation, the Germans can take over the management of these transportations already in 2022. About this сообщает UZ press service.
"We are talking about setting up the planning and development of passenger railway transportation, optimizing purchases and updating the rolling stock.
The German company will help Ukrzaliznytse separate passenger transportation from cargo transportation and ensure effective management," the message says.
It is noted that consulting is the first stage of cooperation, which will be implemented by the end of 2021.
And in the case of its successful implementation at the second stage, "Ukrzaliznytsia" will attract a team of managers from Deutsche Bahn to directly manage passenger transportation already in 2022.
According to the acting the head of the board of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" Aleksandr Kamyshin, DB E&C must develop a road map for the introduction of passenger transportation in long-distance and suburban services for the next 5 years and a model of financing passenger transportation.
"In the process of reforming, the industry must change the long-standing practice when passenger transportation is financed at the expense of cargo transportation. These are separate areas of our company's business that must be accounted for and financed separately. Therefore, we expect our consultant to develop an effective financial model for passenger transportation," said Kamyshyn.
"We welcome the start of this project in Ukraine. We are confident that the transfer of the process of managing passenger rail transportation to Deutsche Bahn will allow us to obtain the fastest possible results. The signed contract is the first stage of cooperation, and we expect that, based on its results, we will move to the next stage already in early 2022, when a team of German managers will be delegated for the operational management of passenger transportation in Ukraine.
