Ukrainian director, writer, prisoner of the Kremlin Oleg Sentsov said that he will not be able to shoot films in Ukraine until the change of power.
The director reported that the reason was Goskino's decision, which did not allow his drama about family relations "Kai" to the next stage of pitching.
"The official reason is the low ratings of experts. I have always been against nepotism and receiving any preferences due to the fact that someone was once in a Russian prison, he said. — But when you are removed from the competition not because of a weak script, but because of your civic position and political views, it has no relation to the honest creative selection of the best. Anonymous experts, whose names are not even indicated in their conclusions or on Goskino's website, gave my project low marks in advance on the instructions of the chairman of the President's Office."
Oleg Sentsov believes that the reason for the refusal was his social and political position.
"Small revenge of small people. As I was informed unofficially, this is a reaction to my criticism of the authorities, support for persecuted activists and the lack of the expected level of respect, or simply put, a refusal to lick ass. This is an attempt to indicate the place, - said the director. — If you think that you can continue to destroy the country and its culture by imposing your dirty rules, know that there is a person who will not let you do it. All I wanted to do was make honest movies, but I can't do that anymore. At least in Ukraine, and at least under this government."
Let us remind you that Oleg Sentsov was released from Russian captivity by the current president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.
