The Verkhovna Rada easily dismissed Avakov

The appointment of his successor will be considered tomorrow.

At its meeting on Thursday, July 15, the Verkhovna Rada approved the resignation of the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Arsen Avakov, by 291 votes.

Arsen Avakov was appointed Minister of Internal Affairs after the Euromaidan victory on February 22, 2014.

The Speaker of the Parliament Dmitry Razumkov said after the vote: "I think it is worth thanking Arsen Borysovich Avakov for all the years he worked for the benefit of our state."

After that, the people's deputies applauded him.

The "Batkyvshchyna" faction and OPZJ did not vote for Avakov's resignation, as they stated that in principle they do not vote for resignations or appointments of ministers of the current government.

Volodymyr Zelensky proposes to appoint People's Deputy Denys Monastyrskyi as the Minister of Internal Affairs. His appointment will be considered tomorrow, July 16.
