Ukrainian attacks on the enemy's rear, ammunition depots, reserves and logistical routes are already elements of the Ukrainian army's counteroffensive. Such a statement during the panel discussion at Media centers Ukraine - Odesa made by Nataliya Humenyuk, head of the United Coordination Press Center of the Defense Forces of Southern Ukraine.
"A counteroffensive operation is also about exhausting the enemy. Therefore, the counterattack is already underway. It will be like in Kherson region. Methodical work to destroy the enemy's stocks, reserves, and forces is also a counteroffensive. Active defense of the Ukrainian army is a counteroffensive. We do not allow the enemy to gain a foothold," the officer said.
She also added that the Ukrainian military needs long-range weapons for successful counteroffensive actions.
"The geography of the area that needs to be liberated is important because there are our people under occupation and our infrastructure, which we cannot destroy. That's why we need long-range weapons to work on logistics, on the rear, on the enemy's warehouses," Nataliya Gumenyuk said.
Oleksandr Kovalenko, coordinator of the "Information Resistance" group noted that a counteroffensive can be expected on any part of the contact line - in Luhansk region, Donetsk region, the partially occupied territory of Zaporizhzhya region and the left-bank Kherson region.
"Each section of the front has its own specifics. And only the General Staff knows where our territories will begin to be liberated. I believe that by the end of the winter period we will see counteroffensive actions. Winter will not prevent this. We have opportunities for a counteroffensive, and the General Staff will use them," the expert noted.
He also added that in view of the military aid provided in the last US package, it is possible to form assault battalion-tactical groups. "All new supplies of weapons are medium and lightly armored vehicles. We are talking about the Bradley M2 BMP, the French AMX, etc., if we combine them, we can create offensive assault groups," the expert noted.
There are signs that the Russians have a shortage of missiles, and Western weapons have neutralized their aviation, the enemy's fleet has also been neutralized, it cannot carry out amphibious operations and block sea lanes. The enemy uses it only for missile attacks. Military expert Andrii Savchenko expressed this opinion during the panel discussion.
"Western weapons made it possible to neutralize the enemy in the air. And our air defense will be strengthened. For example, thanks to Patriot systems. Now the enemy's aircraft can strike only from its own airspace," the expert noted.
Stanislav Mankov, technical specialist in aviation and missile weapons stated that one can already see the enemy's missile weapons shortage.
"For example, the frequency of rocket fire has decreased. In addition, they now use weapons atypically - for example, they use anti-ship missiles and S-300 systems against ground targets. However, all the same, their range of missiles is very diverse. They can produce some types of missiles, such as the X-101 and Kalibr," the expert noted.
Andriy Savchenko also added that the Russians can retool Belarusian enterprises for the production of long-range missiles. "However, due to sanctions, the Russians may have problems with electronic components for missiles," the expert added.
