The Verkhovna Rada legalized virtual assets. People's deputies adopted in the second reading the bill No. 3637 On virtual assets, which legalizes the use of virtual assets in the country. The bill was supported by 276 parliamentarians.
In the explanatory note to the document, it is noted that the draft law:
- must regulate the regulation of the virtual assets market and its participants,
- regulates the legal status of virtual assets and civil-law relations between individuals and legal entities that arise when digital assets are used,
- determines the legal status and requirements for providers of services related to virtual assets. This concerns the storage and/or administration of virtual assets or tools that allow them to be controlled, as well as their exchange, sale and transfer.
"In Ukraine, the daily turnover of virtual assets is UAH 1 billion. But all this is in the shadows. Because of this, international stock exchanges cannot enter Ukraine. Taxes are not paid on any transaction with virtual assets," said Minister of Digital Transformation Mikhail Fedorov in Telegram.
He expressed confidence that now, thanks to the law, it will be regulated.
Favorable transparent conditions will be created that will allow companies to register in Ukraine, not abroad. Fedorov believes that now the budget will be replenished at the expense of taxes, and entrepreneurs will feel protected.
"Only a few countries in the world have legalized crypto-assets - Germany, Luxembourg, Singapore. Ukraine will be one of them," the minister added.
Meanwhile, Salvador was the first to be recognized bitcoin as legal tender. The use of cryptocurrency will allow Salvadorans to save up to 400 million dollars on commission costs when transferring funds of labor migrants from abroad.
