At an extraordinary meeting on December 21, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine appointed Vadym Melnyk as the head of the State Fiscal Service and signed a contract with him to serve in the state service during the quarantine period.

Vadym Melnyk has worked in the tax system since the 2000s. Under Yanukovych, he headed the investigation department of particularly important cases (until 2013), and also worked in the Ministry of Revenue and Revenue.
In 2014, he worked as the deputy head of the Main Investigative Office of the Finnish Financial Supervisory Service. Later, Melnyk headed this department.
Let us remind you that the GFS was created at the beginning of 2014 instead of the Ministry of Revenue and Collections. In 2018, its reorganization began, and since August 1, 2019, according to the state register, the main office of the GFS is in a state of suspension of activity. Today, only the tax police remained in the structure of the GFS.
At the end of July 2020, the Prime Minister announced that the State Fiscal Service would stop working by the end of 2020. According to him, the liquidation of the GFS was one of the requirements of the European Union for the allocation of the second tranche of macro-financial assistance in the amount of 600 million euros.
However, in September of this year it became known that Ukraine will not have time to liquidate the State Fiscal Service by the end of 2020.
