Air tickets for flights to Ukraine may become cheaper

Shmyhal gave a mandate to the Ministry of Infrastructure.

Tickets for domestic flights may become cheaper in Ukraine. The Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, announced this and tasked the Ministry of Infrastructure to work through and present proposals on this issue.

The discussion was attended by Minister of Infrastructure Alexander Kubrakov, Minister of Finance Sergey Marchenko, and Serhiy Korshuk, head of the State Aviation Service and representatives of airlines that carry out passenger transportation within Ukraine.

During the meeting on the development of domestic air transportation, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the procedure for using UAH 104 million provided in the budget to reimburse the expenses of Ukrainian air carriers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The government, together with the Office of the President and the Verkhovna Rada, was looking for the necessary support mechanisms so that people could cheaply travel by plane in Ukraine and develop domestic tourism. This is not only about a competitive market, but also about investments in the development of the state," Shmyhal noted.

At the end of the meeting, he tasked the Ministry of Infrastructure to work out and present proposals for reducing the price of tickets for domestic air transportation.
