Insults, chaos and Ukraine: how Trump and Biden's first debate went

Competitors in the upcoming US presidential elections — current President Donald Trump (Republican) and ex-Vice President Joe Biden (Democrat) — held the first round of debates. This action, which can only be called a fight, lasted about 1,5 hours.

The rivals covered six of the most important topics — the coronavirus pandemic, the state of the economy, racial problems and protests, the appointment of judges to the Supreme Court, the fairness of elections and their past. According to the rules of the debate, everyone had 15 minutes to answer, but the candidates began to interrupt each other and insult each other.

Here are the most interesting moments of the debate.

Ukraine and the corruption of Biden Jr

A significant part of the debate was devoted to Hunter Biden, the candidate's son. When the latter was vice president, Biden Jr. earned millions of dollars for some consulting services and being on the boards of various companies.

In particular, Trump asked Biden about the $3.5 million his son received from the wife of former Moscow mayor Yuri Luzhkov, Elena Baturina. He did not forget to mention the payments from Burysmy, the Ukrainian gas production company of ex-Minister of Ecology Mykola Zlochevsky, where Biden Jr. was a member of the board of directors.

Biden replied: "My son didn't do anything wrong." The Democrat also added that "this is not true." Trump asked several times about $3,5 million "from Moscow", but Biden denied everything.

The current US president also said that Biden threatened Ukraine by blackmailing him with a billion-dollar tranche. Apparently, Trump had in mind the conversation when Biden blackmailed then Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko: they say, if they do not replace the Prosecutor General who opened the case against Burisma, then Ukraine should not wait for a tranche from the IMF - a recording of this conversation was previously published by People's Deputy Andrey Derkach .

Biden also did not remain in debt, saying that during his time as vice president, he "competed with Putin on equal footing, and he (Trump) is Putin's puppet.

"Will you shut up, man?"

As noted earlier, the debates were quite emotional, and the candidates descended into banal insults.

Yes, Trump repeatedly interrupted the opponent, to which Biden responded with the phrases "keep barking, man" and "Will you shut up, man?". At the debate, Donald Trump showed his medical mask with the US coat of arms and said that Biden "always wears a mask." Bearing in mind the insincerity of his counterpart. He also called it "Number two" (Number two), which is slang for defecation.

In response, Biden called the president "Putin's puppy."
