The National Bank obliged banks to identify and document information about the relations of clients and their counterparties with Russia during their activities.
This was reported by the press service NBU.
"The categories of clients, in respect of which the bank is obliged to reveal and document such information, and the amount of relevant information for each category have been determined," the National Bank added.
It is also noted that the National Bank has the right to apply to the bank with a separate request to obtain information on the relations of clients and their counterparties with the aggressor state.
"The collection and documentation of the specified information will contribute to increasing transparency regarding the clients of banks that have ties with the aggressor state, and to reveal the hidden presence of the aggressor state on the Ukrainian market," says the NBU.
These requirements are approved by the resolution of the Board of the National Bank of Ukraine dated March 16, 2023 No. 26 "On Disclosure of Information Regarding Clients' Relationships with the State Carrying Out Armed Aggression Against Ukraine", which comes into force on the day following its official publication.
As reported, the National Bank obliged acquirers and other providers of payment services (banks and non-banking financial institutions) participating in the implementation of a payment transaction to accompany it with detailed information provided for by law.
