Temporary protection for Ukrainians in Poland is being prepared to be extended in 2023.
As of Yavp.pl, this follows from amendments to the special law on assistance to refugees from Ukraine adopted by the Seimas last week. According to these amendments, the legal stay of refugees from Ukraine in Poland will be extended until March 4, 2024. As of today, the final date is August 24, 2023.
Poland provided asylum for Ukrainians for 18 months from the beginning of the war. Currently, the final date of legal stay of refugees in Poland is August 24, 2023.
However, the changes to the legislation will enter into force only after they are approved by the Senate and signed by the president. Amendments may not be approved, they may be returned for reconsideration.
According to the amendments, school students will be able to stay in Poland much longer - they are preparing to extend their legal stay until the fall of 2024.
In particular, primary and secondary school students will be able to study and stay in Poland until August 31, 2024, and high school graduates who will take exams - until September 30, 2024.
