In the USA, for the first time, a passport was issued with a mark about the third gender "X". This is stated in the statement of the official representative of the US State Department, Ned Price, on the department's website.
"We are looking forward to the opportunity to offer such a passport to everyone who applies for it, as soon as we develop the necessary system and update the form," the document states. According to Price, this will happen in early 2022.
The representative of the State Department emphasized that Washington is committed to promoting the freedom and equality of all people, including representatives of the LGBT community. Until now, in order to indicate a gender different from the one entered on the birth certificate, US citizens needed a doctor's certificate.
It became known about the plans of the American administration to introduce a third gender back in the summer. Then US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that this step was designed to guarantee equal rights for the LGBT community.
