The tornado hit six US states on the evening of December 10: Arkansas, Illinois, Tennessee, Missouri, Mississippi and Kentucky. The last got the most.
The most powerful tornado in the history of the United States traveled more than three hundred kilometers, leaving behind uprooted trees, overturned cars and houses destroyed to the ground.
In particular, in Kentucky, the roof of a factory collapsed, 100 people were inside, 40 were saved. Governor Andy Beshear said that, according to preliminary estimates, more than 100 people could die in the state.
In this state alone, the deaths of 22 people have already been officially confirmed. Another six people died in Illinois, four in Tennessee, two each in Arkansas and Missouri.
According to the governor of Kentucky, it will be a miracle if someone else can be found alive at the factory. Beshear said it was "the most destructive tornado in state history." Joe Biden introduced a state of emergency.
Tens of thousands of people were left without electricity and water. Employees of the National Guard are involved in the liquidation of the consequences. Biden promised that the affected regions will receive help.
