The US Senate acquitted Trump in the impeachment trial: the ex-president called the procedure a "witch hunt"

On Saturday, February 13, the sessions of the Senate of the US Congress resumed as part of the impeachment process against ex-president Donald Trump.

On Saturday, February 13, the sessions of the Senate of the US Congress resumed as part of the impeachment process against ex-president Donald Trump.

Senate Democratic Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Republican Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said the senators had run out of questions for House prosecutors and Trump's lawyers. About four hours were allotted for this procedure, but the legislators used only about half of the allotted time.

During the meeting, the ex-president of the USA was fully acquitted.

57 senators voted for the impeachment of Donald Trump, and 43 legislators spoke against it. Thus, the impeachment was not accepted. Because the necessary two-thirds votes of the senators were not obtained.

As a result, there are no barriers left for Trump to run for the post of US president in 2024. The former head of state himself called the impeachment procedure another stage of the witch hunt conducted by his political opponents.

"This became the next phase of the most grandiose witch hunt in the history of our country. And the hunt continues, because our opponents cannot forget that 75 million people voted for me a few months ago. This is the highest figure in history for a sitting president," says the former leader.

At the same time, Trump promised to continue to fight for the interests of US citizens.

"In the coming months, I am preparing to share a lot with you and I hope that together we will continue our wonderful journey to achieve the greatness of America for all its inhabitants. We have a lot of work to do, and soon we will present our vision of a bright, bright and limitless future for America," added Trump.

The current President of the United States, Joe Biden, commented on the justification of his predecessor.

"This sad chapter in our history reminded us that democracy is fragile. That she must always be protected. That we must be always vigilant. That violence and extremism have no place in America. And that each of us has a responsibility and responsibility as an American, and especially leaders, to protect the truth and defeat lies," said Biden.

In addition, the US president remembered those who died during the riots in Washington, in particular, a police officer. Biden maintains the opinion that even those who spoke out against the accused, such as the leader of the Republicans in the Senate, still believe that Trump is guilty of provocations and calls for violence.

It will be recalled that Trump was impeached by the House of Representatives on charges of inciting riots and riots, which on the day Biden's victory was confirmed led to the capture of the Capitol, during which people died. With the impeachment procedure of Trump, they wanted to leave the opportunity to run for president of the United States in the future.
