The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmitry Kuleba, said that Preparations for disconnection of SWIFT from the Russian Federation have begun. Earlier, all EU countries, including Germany, Hungary and Cyprus, declared their agreement. Kuleba wrote about this on his page Facebook.
"The official decision has not yet been issued, but the technical preparation for the adoption of the decision and the implementation of this sanction has already begun. We nibbled and nibbled and nibbled. The entire vertical of Ukrainian diplomacy worked - from the President of Ukraine to the attaché at the Ukrainian embassy," the minister wrote.
SWIFT is an international interbank data transfer system that allows you to perform financial operations around the world in the shortest possible time. It gives the opportunity, conditionally, to make transactions in one day that would take 3-4 days without it. Loss of access to SWIFT will make money transfers difficult. This will jeopardize all foreign economic operations of the Russian Federation, the execution of foreign contracts.
