The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau exposed the corruption mechanism in the State Tax Service, the SBU press service reports.
The scheme consisted, according to preliminary information, in "covering" fraudsters who underpaid taxes and also helped fictitious enterprises.
In order to obtain evidence of the crime, the SBU and NABU conducted a number of searches throughout Ukraine: except for the State Tax Service, in regional subdivisions, as well as in the places of residence of those involved in the production. During the searches, documents were found and seized, confirming the fact that the defendants in the criminal proceedings contributed to the minimization of tax payments, the so-called "scrolls", and also removed the fictitious enterprises controlled by them from the category of risky.
At the present time, investigative actions are ongoing within the framework of criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Art. 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Abuse of power or official position). All persons who may be involved in the criminal scheme are identified.
On the morning of November 3, a number of Ukrainian mass media, citing sources in law enforcement agencies, reported that NABU and SBU searched the house of Alexei Lyubchenko, the Minister of Economy who resigned the day before. It later turned out that the house where Lyubchenko himself lives was not searched. In fact, they were conducted in the State Tax Service and among the people involved in a criminal case related to the violation of tax legislation by enterprises in the Poltava Region.
