Employees of the Odessa "Infoksvodokanal" change the pressure sewerage collector between the main sewage pumping station and the "Severnaya" biological treatment station. This was reported in the press service of the company.
In total, three pipelines pass here. One of them was already renovated last year. Now almost a kilometer of pipeline with a diameter of 1400 mm is being replaced. Instead of the old pipe, which has reached its operational limit, almost 1000 meters of new fiberglass pipe with a diameter of 1200 mm, made in Turkey, is being laid.
The company's specialists noted that the service life of fiberglass pipes will be much higher than that of steel pipes. The fact is that household waste from the greater part of Odessa is pumped through these collectors to the biological treatment station "Severnaya". The wastewater itself, in addition to the aggressive medium, has abrasive particles that contribute to the rapid destruction of the bottom of the pipeline, which is fraught with its damage. There is no such thing in fiberglass, it is more resistant to both aggressive drains and mechanical impact.
Modernization is being completed at the main sewage pumping station, because in addition to the pipelines, the pumping equipment has already been replaced. For this, the company's specialists have already installed European energy-efficient Grundfos pumps. In addition, the power supply lines and the transformer substation have recently been completely replaced at this station.
For information, the main sewage pumping station is one of the most important sewerage arteries of the water channel. The pumping station is connected by pressure collectors to the "Severnaya" biological treatment station and pumps about 70% of sewage from the entire city there for subsequent treatment. About 140 cubic meters of wastewater pass through it per day.
