In Odesa, on May 2, law enforcement officers went into an enhanced duty mode. This was reported in the communications department of the Odessa region police.
More than 1,5 law enforcement officers from the Odessa garrison and more than a thousand people from other regions were involved in the work during the mass events.
Law enforcement officers took Kulikovo Pole and Cathedral Square under guard. Explosive technicians checked the specified territory for the presence of dangerous objects. So-called filtration points were installed on Kulikovo field on the side of Italiansky boulevard and at the intersection of Kanatnaya and Pirogovskaya streets, where visitors are checked for the presence of dangerous and prohibited items.
Traffic is restricted around both squares.
"The entire complex of preventive actions is carried out with the aim of preventing violations of public order and threats to the safety of people during the commemoration of the victims of May 2, 2014, which will soon begin in the central part of the city," the police noted.
