The special services of Russia intended to carry out a powerful hacker attack on the state bodies of Ukraine

Customers want to block the operation of information and critical infrastructure facilities

Cyber specialists of the Security Service of Ukraine prevented the special services of the Russian Federation from carrying out a powerful virus attack on the state bodies of Ukraine. This was reported in the SBU press center.

The operatives of the SBU established that the special services of the Russian Federation acted through a resident of Zaporozhye. On the Internet, he received an offer for confidential cooperation from a Russian citizen. The hacker agreed to carry out subversive activities against Ukraine for money. The attacker, in particular, undertook to carry out a targeted virus attack on state electronic information resources.

According to the plan of the Russian "curators", the man was supposed to send Ukrainian officials a disguised file with spy software. The mailing was supposed to ensure a virus defeat of the closed electronic information systems of state institutions and local self-government bodies. Customers want to get unauthorized access to information that could block the stable operation of information and critical infrastructure facilities.

In the course of the investigative actions, the law enforcement officers seized electronic data carriers with files of software provided by foreign special services, and also discovered correspondence with curators of the Russian Federation.

On this fact, investigators have already opened criminal proceedings under Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Treason). The pre-trial investigation continues.
