Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine have blocked the illegal channel for the delivery of disassembled firearms to Ukraine. This was reported in the SBU press center.
The operation was carried out jointly with the law enforcement agencies of the USA and Poland, as well as the National Contact Point of Europol.
The operatives of the special service established that the illegal business was organized by several residents of the capital and the Kyiv region. Spare parts were transferred by an accomplice from the USA in transit through Poland. He sent the details by international postal express services, hidden from customs control.
SBU officers detained one of the organizers upon receiving the shipment. The operation was carried out in one of the settlements of the Kyiv region.
During seven searches of the place of residence of members of the group, law enforcement officers seized:
- pistol brand "TT" and four magazines for it;
- a "Sauer" pistol and a magazine for it;
- pistol TM "Glock 19" and two shutter frames for it;
- two lower parts of the pistol TM "Glock 19";
- more than 150 cartridges of various calibers;
- more than 30 thousand dollars;
- spare parts and accessories for short-barreled firearms;
- a significant amount of payment bank cards.
Investigators have already informed the detainee of the suspicion of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 201 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Smuggling).
