On March 30, employees of the Security Service of Ukraine conducted 20 searches of the leadership and representatives of the public organization "Ukrainian Vybor". This was reported in the SBU press center.
Law enforcement officers carried out investigative actions in more than 10 regions of the country. The seized evidence base was added to the case file.
In the course of the pre-trial investigation, operatives are verifying information about the assistance of the members of the above-mentioned organization in holding an illegal referendum and elections in March 2014 in the Republic of Crimea and in the city of Sevastopol.
The pre-trial investigation has already established that members of the All-Ukrainian Public Movement "Ukrainian Choice" OO during the occupation of the peninsula and after it actively supported and continue to support the illegally created authorities. They became members of election commissions and precincts, participated in the activities of the illegal armed formation "Self-Defense of Crimea".
Members of this formation illegally persecuted pro-Ukrainian activists, seized administrative buildings of Ukrainian authorities, and guarded illegally created polling stations in Crimea and Sevastopol during the so-called referendum on March 16, 2014.
Law enforcement officers are continuing investigative actions within the framework of criminal proceedings initiated under Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Sluzhebnyy podlog). The issue of notifying members of a public organization of suspicions under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is resolved: Article 110 (Encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine) and Article 111 (Treason). Earlier, the investigators had already announced to the accused representatives of "Ukrainskogo vobor" that they were suspicious of these articles.
In addition, in turn, "Opposition Platform - For Life" reported on its website that on March 30, representatives of the SBU and the Prosecutor General's Office conducted 12 searches of members of the OPZZH party and activists of the public movement "Ukrainian Choice" in Kyiv, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Cherkassy, and Kherson , Khmelnytskyi, Kirovohrad, Transcarpathian regions and Kyiv.
The party stated that the investigative actions "are illegal and have a commissioned nature."
