In Odessa, a 34-year-old native of Kharkiv region tried to escape from the remand prison. This was reported in the district police department No. 1.
The man was in custody on suspicion of committing a drug crime, provided for in Part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Around seven in the morning, the duty officer informed the police officer about the offender, who ran to the walls of the pre-trial detention center. Having discovered the fugitive, the employee of the internal service warned about the use of firearms and fired into the air, but the man did not react. Then the guard fired a shot in the direction of the attacker, wounding him in the leg. An ambulance was dispatched to the scene, and medics took the prisoner to the hospital.
On the fact of the attempted escape from custody, a pre-trial investigation was initiated under part 2 of article 15 and part 1 of article 393 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The offender faces from three to five years of imprisonment.
An official investigation has also been launched, within the framework of which a legal assessment will be given to the actions of the postman. Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation entered information into the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations under part 2 of Article 365 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
