Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau informed the former head of the Department of Explosives Service of the National Police about the suspicion of receiving a bribe in the amount of 980. hryvnia and its further legalization. This was reported in the press service of NABU.
The investigation established that the ex-official, having information about the real needs of the division in the purchase of explosion-proof equipment, organized the purchase of such equipment and special suits for the needs of the National Police division in the Luhansk region in the fall of 2016 together with a private businessman he knew. Artificially created the appearance of a lack of competition, the purchase was carried out according to the negotiation procedure.
As a result, the National Police paid UAH 3 million for the equipment, of which the private entrepreneur transferred UAH 980. UAH allegedly for legal services (which were not actually provided) to the company, the ultimate beneficiary of which, as the investigation found out, was a police officer acting at the time.
As noted in the NABU, the specified episode is one of the possible ones from the list of procurement crimes carried out by the National Police Department, which are being investigated by detectives.
The actions of the ex-official were qualified under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: part 4 of article 368 (Acceptance of offers, promises or receipt of illegal benefits by an official) and part 1 of article 209 (Legalization of income obtained by illegal means). Also, the accomplice of the policeman, a private businessman, was informed of the suspicion, according to Part 3 of Article 369 (Providing Unlawful Benefits).
At this time, the investigators are solving the question of choosing a preventive measure for the suspect.
