Detectives of the National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine exposed a corruption scheme, according to which the community of Mykolaiv was damaged by more than 26,8 million hryvnias. We are talking about the seizure of budget funds during the reconstruction of Cathedral Square in Nikolaev. This was reported in the press service of NABU.
The investigation so far considers eight people as participants in the scheme: the deputy of the Nikolaev city mayor. first deputy director of one of the departments of Mykolaiv City Council; directors of six private companies, one of whom is an active deputy of the Odessa City Council. According to the mass media, this is about Maryna Lozovenko, a deputy of the Odessa city council from the "Trust in business" party.
Officials of the Nikolaev City Council and two heads of private companies were detained. Their actions were qualified under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Employment, embezzlement of property or possession of it by abuse of official position).
The investigation suggests that the deputy mayor of Mykolaiv asked to leave the territory of Ukraine: he was detained at the international checkpoint "Luzhanka - Beregshuran" on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border.
Mayor Nikolaev was also released by subpoena to NABU for investigative (investigative) actions.
In 2019, the Mykolaiv city council department announced a tender for reconstruction of Cathedral Square. As the investigation established, the deputy mayor of Nikolaev and the first deputy of one of the departments of the city council, abusing their official position, after a preliminary collusion with six persons - directors of private companies, ensured victory in the tender of one predetermined LLC, which performed the work. However, as the examination showed, the works were carried out at inflated prices, as a result of which the local community suffered losses of more than UAH 26,8 million.
