On the night of July 22, more than the two-month norm of precipitation fell in Odessa. This was reported in the information department of the Odessa City Council.
The monthly norm is 45 liters per 1 sq.m., overnight in the city about 101 liters per 1 sq.m.
Heavy rain started at 00:40. Officials of the city administration department urgently organized brigades to eliminate possible drowned people. However, the technical capabilities of storm sewers are not enough to cope with a large amount of precipitation.
All as a result protracted downpour 23 plots were flooded. At the moment, the following streets remain closed: Ataman Holovaty and Chernomorsky Cossacks. Flooding remains in 11 areas, travel is difficult, but possible.

Germany and Belgium suffered the most. In Germany, 1300 people are listed as missing, 160 residents have died. In Belgium, 36 people died, 70 are missing and 57 are hospitalized.
