British Defense Minister Wallace will not compete for the post of prime minister and will support Johnson

He added that the party "must focus" on who will bring unity and who can win the next election.

British Defense Minister Ben Wallace said that he is leaning towards the candidacy of Boris Johnson in the fight for the position of the next prime minister.

About it reports Sky News.

He was not categorical in his support, but said he was "leaning" towards the former prime minister.

"I would lean towards Boris Johnson at the moment," he said, adding that questions remain about Johnson, referring to parliamentary inquiries into his conduct.

Wallace became the second cabinet minister to publicly back Johnson, after business minister Jacob Rhys-Mogg.

Wallace said the Conservative Party also had to think about "who has the mandate", noting that Johnson had won the 2019 election.

He added that the party "must focus" on who will bring unity and who can win the next election.

Recall that British Prime Minister Liz Truss announced her resignation after 6 weeks in office.
