The heads of foreign affairs of Ukraine and Hungary will meet in Kyiv to settle their differences

The meeting will be held in January against the background of the crisis in relations between the countries

The heads of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, and Peter Szijarto, of Hungary, agreed on negotiations in Kyiv. The meeting will be held in January against the background of the crisis in relations between the countries.

He writes about this with reference to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba "European truth".

"Hungary is an important partner and close neighbor for us. Neighbors sometimes quarrel, but then they have to reconcile, because they remain neighbors. Therefore, we agreed that at the end of January, my colleague Peter Siyarto will visit Kyiv to discuss the situation in bilateral relations and ways to solve problems based on the principle of mutual respect," said Kuleba.

According to some sources, the visit is planned for the last week of January, already after the change of power in the USA. It is not about the official meeting of the intergovernmental commission, which was the basis for Kuleba's meeting with Szijártó earlier this year, but about the personal visit of the Hungarian minister to find a way out of the crisis in bilateral relations.

The initiator of the negotiations was Hungary, but the invitation to meet in Kyiv came from the Ukrainian side.

Let us remind you that the relations between the countries worsened at the end of last year, after the SBU conducted searches of the head of the Hungarian fund "Egan Ede" and the leader of the party of Hungarians of Zakarpattia Vasiliy Brenzovich. The special service suspected that some Ukrainian public figures were involved in assisting a foreign state: supporting the state bodies of a neighboring country in carrying out subversive activities to the detriment of Ukraine, in particular, in committing actions with signs of treason.
