Zelensky blocked the activity of three TV channels

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, signed a decree on the introduction of sanctions against Taras Kozak, a People's Deputy of Ukraine from the faction "Opposition Platform - For Life"

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, signed a decree imposing sanctions against Taras Kozak, MP of Ukraine from the "Opposition Platform - For Life" faction, as well as eight limited liability companies.

This was reported in the press service of the Office of the President.

In accordance with Article 107 of the Constitution of Ukraine, I decree to implement the decision of the Council of National Security and Defense of Ukraine from February 2, 2021 "On the application of personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions)," the text of the decree says.

It is reported that the control over the implementation of this decision is entrusted to the NSDC Secretary Alexei Danilov.

Decree No. 43/2021 comes into force from the date of its publication.

According to Danilov, during the meeting of the National Security Council on Tuesday, February 2, 17 out of 19 members of the National Security Council voted for the introduction of sanctions.

"Today, a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council took place, where by written vote the members of the National Security Council considered the issue of imposing personal sanctions against legal entities and individuals located on the territory of Ukraine. Of the 19 members of the Council of National Security and Defense, 17 voted in favor, one abstained, one is on a business trip," said Secretary of the Council of National Security and Defense of Ukraine Aleksey Danilov.

According to the decision of the National Security Council, sanctions against Kozak provide for the blocking of assets — temporary restriction of a person’s right to use and dispose of property belonging to him, restriction of trade operations, restriction, partial or complete cessation of transit of resources, flights and transportation on the territory of Ukraine, prevention of withdrawal of capital outside of Ukraine, suspension fulfillment of economic and financial obligations, cancellation or suspension of licenses and other permits, the receipt (presence) of which is a condition for the implementation of a certain type of activity, full or partial prohibition of transactions with securities, the issuers of which are persons to whom sanctions are applied in accordance with this by law, the termination of the issuance of licenses for the import into Ukraine from a foreign state or export from Ukraine of currency values ​​and restrictions on the issuance of cash on payment cards issued by residents of a foreign state is prohibited editors of technologies, rights to objects of intellectual property.

Sanctions against TV channels include the blocking of assets, the prevention of the withdrawal of capital outside of Ukraine, the suspension of the execution of economic and financial obligations, the cancellation or suspension of licenses and other permits, the receipt (presence) of which is a condition for the implementation of a certain type of activity, the prohibition of the use of radio frequency resources of Ukraine, the termination of the provision services for retransmission/distribution of teleprograms / provision of telecommunication services and use of public telecommunication networks, etc.

Broadcasting of TV channels 112, Newsone and ZIK was stopped in the digital multiplex and cable networks on the night of February 3 after the publication of President Volodymyr Zelensky's decree on their blocking.

At the same time, online broadcasting of these TV channels continues on YouTube. Representatives of the channel have already stated that the president's decision is illegal, as sanctions can only be imposed against foreign legal entities and individuals. In turn, Taras Kozak is a citizen of Ukraine.

The political affiliation of the Ukrainian owners of mass media registered in Ukraine is not a crime," wrote the head of NSJU Serhiy Tomilenko on his Facebook page.
