President Volodymyr Zelensky awarded the National Legend of Ukraine award to singer Sofia Rotaru, former coach of Dynamo football club Oleg Blokhin and five other figures of culture and sports. The ceremony was broadcast on the Facebook page of the Office of the President.
Zelensky reported that today, August 22, awards are being given to seven outstanding Ukrainians:
— poet-songwriter Yury Rybchinsky;
— artist Ivan Marchuk;
— Oleg Blokhin, former head coach of FC Dynamo;
— choreographer Myroslav Vantukh;
— ballerina Elena Potapova;
— singer Sofia Rotaru;
— composer Myroslav Skoryk (posthumously).
Zelensky emphasized that awards to "national legends" in Ukraine will be presented annually on the occasion of Independence Day.
