President Volodymyr Zelensky signed the Law "On Prevention and Anti-Semitism in Ukraine" No. 1770-IX, which was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on September 22, 2021. This is reported on the official website of the head of state.
The purpose of the document is to create a legislative mechanism to counteract anti-Semitism in Ukraine and prevent it from manifesting itself in order to protect human rights, prevent cases of xenophobia, racism and discrimination.
The implementation of this law will contribute to the further strengthening of the culture of tolerance in Ukrainian society.
Zelenskiy's support of this law indicates the consistent position of the president and our state to prevent such a shameful phenomenon as anti-Semitism in Ukraine.
The document, in particular, gives a definition of the term "anti-Semitism" and indicates a list of ego manifestations. The law also contains a provision prohibiting anti-Semitism and self-expression.
Violation of the requirements of this law is subject to civil, administrative and criminal liability. We are talking about the right to compensation for material and moral damage caused to a person as a result of anti-Semitism and ego.
The document enters into force on the day following its publication.
