Zelensky signed a decree on social guarantees

For war veterans and families of fallen defenders of Ukraine

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, signed Decree No. 466/2021 "On certain measures regarding the social protection of war veterans, families of victims who defended the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Ukraine." This is reported on the official website of the head of state.

The purpose of the document is to provide social guarantees for war veterans, families of the dead who defended the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state.

Since 2014, as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation, there has been a need to establish an effective system of social protection for war veterans, their family members, and persons covered by the Law of Ukraine "On the Status of War Veterans, Guarantees of Their Social Protection."

With this decree, Zelensky tasked the Cabinet of Ministers to take measures for the social protection of the mentioned categories of citizens, including providing in the draft of the state budget of Ukraine for 2022 the expenses for the payment of monetary compensation for the proper housing.

In particular, this will concern persons in need of improvement in housing conditions, including:

1) families of those who died, went missing or died as a result of an injury received during participation in an anti-terrorist operation; persons with disabilities of groups I-II, obtained as a result of participation in the anti-terrorist operation;

2) internally displaced persons who directly participated in the defense of Ukraine against Russian aggression;

3) families of participants in hostilities on the territory of other states who died, went missing or died as a result of injuries received on the territory of these states during conflicts; persons with disabilities of groups I-II from among the UBD in the territory of other states;

4) families of deceased participants of the Revolution of Dignity, as well as families of those who were posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine for their participation in the Revolution of Dignity; persons with disabilities of groups I-II, obtained as a result of the events during the Revolution of Dignity.

The President focused the attention of the government on the need to approve the State Targeted Social Program to ensure the realization of the right to housing for persons who defended the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine for the period until 2025.

The head of state also instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to ensure the functioning of the Unified State Register of Citizens in Need of Improvement in Housing Conditions from 2022.
