The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, tasked the government to take measures to restore justice in the payment of pensions to military pensioners. This is reported on the official website of the head of state.
Due to incomplete amendments to the law on indexation of the incomes of Ukrainians, which were adopted back in 2017, the issue of indexation of military pensions was not regulated. As a result, there was a significant difference between the pensions that were appointed before 2018 and the new payments.
In order to restore justice, the Ministry of Social Policy has developed a decision to increase payments to retired servicemen. The Cabinet of Ministers will adopt the relevant resolution at the next meeting.
This decision is designed to reduce existing disparities. In particular, it is assumed that from July 1 of the current year, an additional payment of 2000 hryvnias will be established for almost 400 military pensioners who were assigned pensions until March 1, 2018. The minimum pension payment for military personnel will be set at the level of 3854 hryvnias.
Payments for combatants who have lost their ability to work will also be increased. More than 40 thousand a person will receive an increase of almost 700 hryvnias.
Zelensky noted that the state has a resource for correcting injustices and increasing social standards. Despite the negative impact of the corona crisis, thanks to the fight against schemes and effective work on filling the budget, the state budget's revenue overrun is recorded. Therefore, the resulting resource will be directed primarily to the support of Ukrainians and to the correction of those injustices in social policy that we inherited from the previous government. In particular, the disparity in pension payments for the military will be overcome.
