From January 1, 2024, Ukraine plans to replace military conscription with a system of intensive training.
According to Defense Minister Reznikov, at the first stage conscription will be preserved, but as an alternative, short-term intensive military training (for 3-4 months) will be introduced. After such training, young people will not be called up, but will simply receive basic military skills.
"From January 1, 2024, we plan to completely replace conscription with short-term intensive training, gradually increasing the volume of those involved and maintaining their skills through periodic training and gatherings," Reznikov added.
He noted that in order to implement the specified steps, the government will propose a package of necessary bills in the near future.
