Russian politicians expressed their protest because of the new form of the National Football Team of Ukraine, in which the Ukrainian team plans to compete at Euro-2021.
The uniform depicts the border of Ukraine together with Crimea, and on the backs of the players, above the surnames, is written the greeting "Glory to Ukraine!", and on the inside of the collars is written "Glory to the heroes!"
The new uniform of the national team was demonstrated on his Facebook page by the president of the Ukrainian Football Federation, Andrey Pavelko. "We believe that the silhouette of Ukraine will give strength to the players, because they will fight for all of Ukraine. And all of Ukraine, from Sevastopol and Simferopol to Kyiv, from Donetsk and Luhansk to Uzhgorod, will support them in every match. This is very important both for football players who are very excited and dream of performing better at the Euros, and for millions of our fans who believe in Andrey Shevchenko's team. Football and the national team unite Ukraine! Glory to Ukraine!" Pavelko noted.
In turn, the deputy of the State Duma of Russia, Dmitry Svishchev, called on UEFA to ban this uniform, "since it provokes conflict at the tournament." And the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Maria Zakharova, stated that "the Ukrainian football team has annexed the territory of Ukraine to the Russian Crimea on its uniform."
On June 7, the Ukrainian national team will play the last friendly match before Euro-2020, Andrey Shevchenko's team will host Cyprus.
