In 2020, Ukraine entered the TOP of the world's unhappiest countries. Within an hour, the happiness index in the country fell sharply from 33% to 14%.
This is evidenced data research conducted by the Foundation "Democratic initiatives" named after Ilka Kucheriva.
According to the results of the survey, Ukraine took 38th place out of 42 (or fifth from the end) in the rating, being less happy than Iraq and Russia. At the same time, the country was ahead of Armenia, Hong Kong, Ghana and North Macedonia according to this index.
In total, according to sociologists, 54% of respondents from the countries answered that they consider themselves happy, and only 14% say that they are unhappy. 31% of respondents stated that they do not consider themselves to either one or the other category of people. The average happiness index in the world is 40%, which is 26% higher than in Ukraine.
The number of happy Ukrainians (49%) is still greater than the number of unhappy ones (35%). The number of happy people has practically not changed in an hour. 14% of Ukrainians considered themselves neither happy nor unhappy. According to sociologists, the fall in the happiness index was due to the increase in the number of unhappy people.
Experts observe a sharp drop in the happiness index in our country — from 33% in 2019 to 14% in 2020. However, this indicator is still higher than in 2018, when it was only 8%.
